The Ministry of Higher Education has taken steps to allocate funds under the World Bank funded HETC project to set up EDPs at different Universities in Sri Lanka. The proposal submitted by the University of Colombo was successful and the University will receive Rs. 25 million for this purpose. Four activities are proposed under this project

  • Improving governance & management
  • Improve quality & relevance of EDPs
  • Enhance learning resources & learner support services
  • Promote collaboration with state/non-state training institutions.

These funds will be utilized to strengthen the already existing BIT program offered by UCSC and reinstate the EDP with on-line components. Furthermore, and Faculty of Science will start two new programs on Bachelor of Science (Electronics & Automation Technology) and Bachelor of Science (Financial Engineering).
